Eligibility Criteria
State Merit (fresh): Indigenous / permanent residents of Nagaland; post-matric students; typical fresh thresholds: Class XI/UG 1st year — ≥80% in last qualifying exam (best 5 subjects); PG fresh often ≥70% at UG level. Repeaters/failed students are ineligible.
State Research: ST & Indigenous students of Nagaland; MPhil/PhD/D.Litt (first year entry only); must submit synopsis/registration and not be receiving another scholarship/stipend. Renewal allowed with supervisor’s progress report.
State Disability: Permanent residents of Nagaland with benchmark disability (≥40%), studying in eligible classes/institutions (2025 intake reported for classes 1–8); income limit & institutional AISHE/UDISE checks apply — see official rule for exact income cap and documents.
Common exclusions: Applicants receiving other major scholarships/stipends, government employees, or students who failed the previous exam are usually ineligible. Bank account must be in the applicant’s name (minor→joint with applicant first).

Application Process
- Register on the Common Scholarship Portal (use mobile/Aadhaar OTP) → create profile.
- Choose the correct scheme (Merit / Research / Disability) and complete the online form; upload supporting documents (merged mark-sheets, ST/Indigenous cert, registration/synopsis for research, disability certificate for disability scheme, bank passbook front page, Aadhaar, photo, admission receipt, etc.). - Print the submitted form and submit the hard copy + documents to your institution’s INO (if studying inside Nagaland) for verification; students outside Nagaland post hard copies to the Directorate address when instructed.
- Institutional (INO) verification → State verification → beneficiary list: the INO verifies online against hard copies; the Directorate finalises beneficiaries and disburses funds.
- Track application status on the portal; rectify errors by re-submitting if the form is rejected (portal guidance explains the process).
