Program Overview!

Looking for funding to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Pakistan? The Scotland–Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women & Girls (funded by the Scottish Government, administered by the British Council) helps remove financial barriers for Pakistani women studying HEC-recognized program. Three reasons to apply: (1) it covers tuition, on-campus hostel fees (where applicable) and two home–university return journeys per year; (2) it’s targeted to fields with high social impact (Education, Health, Sustainable Energy, Food Security & Agriculture, Climate and STEM for Masters); (3) it prioritizes young women from disadvantaged, rural, minority backgrounds and women with disabilities.

The British Council is the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities; in Pakistan it administers scholarships and education programs on behalf of partners and funders. For this scheme, the British Council coordinates selection and award administration with Pakistani universities (and nominated university focal persons), ensuring funds and placements reach eligible women across Pakistan. The British Council’s Scotland–Pakistan webpages and downloadable FAQs contain the official application rules and forms.

This national scholarship makes higher education more accessible to young Pakistani women by funding tuition and selected student costs for eligible degrees at HEC-recognized Pakistani universities. It supports undergraduate (4-year) and taught postgraduate/MPhil (up to 2-year) study in a short list of priority subject areas (Education; Sustainable Energy; Food Security & Agriculture; Health Sciences; STEM — Masters only; Climate). The program emphasizes inclusion (rural, minority, and disabled applicants encouraged).

Application Process

  1. Read the FAQs on the British Council page (download the three documents at the bottom of the page — General FAQs, Masters FAQs, Bachelors FAQs) — these are the authoritative rules.
  2. Choose the right online form: British Council hosts separate Research.net application forms for Bachelor’s and Master’s/MPhil applicants (links are on the page).
  3. Prepare your single-PDF upload (<=16MB) containing the required documents (Survey forms ask you to upload everything as one compressed PDF). Typical required documents (confirm in the FAQs):
    • Copy of CNIC/Form-B (applicant and parent/guardian)
    • Salary slip or proof of parent/guardian occupation (or pension slip)
    • Certificate / results sheet of most recently completed qualification
    • Offer letter / confirmation of admission from an HEC-recognized university (you may submit without an offer letter, but conditional scholarship offers require proof of admission later).
    • Tuition fee schedule and hostel fee (if applicable) from the university website
    • Disability certificate / medical proof (if applicable)
    • Personal statement (500–1000 words — explain why you are the best candidate and your plans after graduation).
  4. Submit the online application via the Research.net form before the deadline (31 Aug 2025, per the General FAQs). Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  5. Selection & follow up: Shortlisted candidates may be required to submit additional documentation to the British Council and follow any verification steps required by the program. Check the FAQs for timelines and selection details.
