Dr. Albert Schweitzer School is a community-based institution in rural Kenya dedicated to educating and empowering HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children from Nursery to Grade 9. Guided by values of integrity, empathy, and love, the school offers both academic and extracurricular programs, including music, drama, sports, and creative arts. Their mission is to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to overcome social stigma and lead fulfilling lives. The Volunteer Program offers an immersive opportunity to work directly with children and youth, supporting academic learning, creative arts, sports, and life skills development. Volunteers play a vital role in fostering inclusion, reducing stigma, and building resilience among HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. Activities range from classroom teaching and tutoring to leading extracurricular workshops and organizing community events. Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum age: 18 years (exceptions for supervised school groups)

  • Passion for education, child development, or social impact

  • Teaching, arts, sports, or facilitation experience preferred but not mandatory

  • Willingness to adapt and work in diverse cultural settings

  • Good communication skills and team spirit

Volunteering Opportunities

  1. Teaching Support:
    • Assist teachers with English, Mathematics, Science, and Computer lessons.
    • Help improve students’ digital literacy and language skills.
  2. Extracurricular Activities Facilitator:
    • Lead or support activities like sports, choir, art, fashion shows, and debates.
    • Encourage talent discovery and confidence-building among students.
  3. Life Skills & Mentorship:
    • Provide workshops on leadership, self-awareness, and career exploration.
    • Mentor students to overcome stigma and achieve personal goals.
  4. Infrastructure & Maintenance:
    • Help maintain classrooms, libraries, or computer labs.
    • Contribute to school beautification projects.
  5. Fundraising & Awareness:
    • Assist with fundraising campaigns to support meals, education materials, and school improvements.
    • Help raise awareness about the organization’s impact through storytelling or social media.

Seme, near Lake Victoria, approximately 45km west of Kisumu Town, Kenya.
